“Surely I Am Coming Quickly!” — Are you ready for Christ’s return?
Key scripture:
He who testifies to these things says, “Surely, I am coming quickly. ‘Amen.’ Even so, come, Lord Jesus!” — Revelation 22: 20
These are the final recorded words of Jesus in Scripture — A promise, a warning, and an invitation all in one.“Surely, I am coming quickly. Not maybe, not eventually, but “surely” and “quickly.”
Are you Living in the Light of His Imminent Return?
The urgency of Christ’s promise: “I am coming quickly.”
The word “quickly” (Greek: tachu) doesn’t mean soon, but suddenly, without delay.
Jesus is telling us His return is certain. It could happen at any moment. We must live in constant readiness.
This isn’t meant to frighten us, but to focus us. Like a bride preparing for her wedding day, every believer should be making themselves ready. How do we prepare for his coming? Keep your heart clean with repentance and holiness.
“And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is. Pure.” — 1 John 3: 3
There are Further ways to Prepare yourself
- Daily examine your life. Are there un-confessed sins?
- Flee compromise. The world is temporary; His Kingdom is forever.
- Pursue holiness — not in fear, but in joyful anticipation.
Stay spiritually alert. “Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour your Lord is coming.” (Matthew 24:42)
Are you spiritually drowsy, distracted by entertainment, business, or worry? Stay in the Word and prayer, these keep your faith burning. Live with eternity in mind because every decision matters and be about His work with faithful service.
“Blessed is that servant whom his master, when He comes, will find so doing.” — Matthew 24:46
- Share the Gospel. Time is short; souls are at stake.
- Serve others in love. The Kingdom is built on selfless love.
- Invest in what lasts. Money fades, but souls are eternal.
Danger of being Unprepared
Jesus told parables of:
- Foolish virgins who missed the wedding. (Matthew 25:1-13)
- The unprepared servant. Who was cast out? (Matthew 24: 48-51)
- The man without a wedding garment. (Matthew 22: 11 through 14)
These aren’t just stories — they are warnings. It’s possible to:
- Assume you are ready — But not be.
- Get distracted by the world…and miss eternity.
- Hear the most terrifying words: I never knew you. (Matthew 7:23)
The Joy of Those who are Ready
For the prepared, Christ return is not a day of fear, but of unimaginable joy!
- We will see. Him face to face. (1 John 3:2)
- Every tear will be wiped away. (Revelation 21: 4)
- We will reign with him forever! (Revelation 22: 5)
This is why John responds to Jesus’s promise with: “Amen. Even so, Lord Jesus!”
Final challenge: Is your heart cry the same as John’s?
Can you honestly say, “Come, Lord Jesus!?” Or would His return catch you unprepared?
Today is the day. To get ready:
- If you’ve drifted, returned to him now.
- If you’ve never fully surrendered, today is salvation.
- If you’re watching and waiting, stay faithful dash your bridegroom is near!
